Why I love practising Yoga Nidra

I have been practising Yoga Nidra for 1,5 years now. But, for the first year and longer, I only “used” it to fall asleep and get by the days living with chronic fatigue. Nowadays, I still love it for its deep restoration & rejuvenation, but also its guidance and gentle nudges my soul whispers to me once I free-write afterwards.

It’s truly amazing, and from where I’m at right now, I feel like it informs my business and life in the most profound ways.

I first got to know Yoga Nidra through my beloved Coach Mary Houston, and I still practice with her. I have recently discovered Tracee Stanley’s beautiful work and book, which I highly recommend if you are interested in finding out more about it.

Yoga Nidra helps activate the relaxation response and improves the functioning of your nervous system. It brings you to a state in which the body is completely relaxed, and you go into a deep state of conscious awareness. It’s also called the awakened sleep.

For me, it is about connecting with my inner guide, my soul / the source. It is about awakening to who I am. It is about hearing what I wouldn’t hear otherwise. It is about listening to my soul’s gentle guidance. It is about becoming fully awake to my purpose in this life. It is about receiving and resting and getting up, so whole, so calm, so integrated as I would never think was possible.
